Hampton Creek Foods Launches ‘Beyond Eggs,’ Aiming to Replace Real Eggs


Led by CEO Josh Tetrick — a former West Virginia University football star who used to eat ‘gallons of chicken’ — Hampton Creek Foods has released their first product, ‘Beyond Eggs,’ with the goal of raising standards of taste for vegan and vegetarian cooking.

And according to TechCrunch, these eggs make some darn good cookies.

‘Beyond Eggs’ are made from peas, sunflower lecithin, canola and natural gums, and are free of gluten and cholesterol. The ‘Eggs’ are just part of the larger ‘Food Tech’ revolution, as firms in Silicon Valley produce everything from buffalo mozzarella to more efficient delivery systems.

San Francisco-based Hampton Creek Foods has raised a total of $2 million in funding thus far.
