Here Are the Top 20 Venture Capital Firms of 2012

 
 
 

VentureBeat reports that PrivCo, a research firm which analyzes private companies, has just released a full report of the top 20 technology venture capital companies of 2012 – and some big names are missing, including Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

The ranking is based on the number of private tech company exits the firms financed. Topping the list is Intel Capital, which has been involved with more then 200 initial public offerings and 300 acquisitions since its founding 20 years ago.

As VentureBeat pointed out, many of the firms listed – including Felicis Ventures and Lerer Ventures – were formed by individuals from entrepreneurial backgrounds, as opposed to pure finance backgrounds.
