3D Camera and Visualization Platform Matterport Raises $5.6 Million

According to The Next Web, Matterport, a Y Combinator-backed company which allows users to create and share digital scans of real-world environments, has raised $5.6 million in a funding round led by Lux Capital with participation from Felicis Ventures, Red Swan Ventures, and others.

The funding money will be used to bring the Matterport 3D camera to market. The camera creates 3D renderings of rooms and landscapes, and allows users to share the visuals with others via the viewing platform, which can be previewed here.

The camera could have a number of uses in real estate – such as showing house buyers specific rooms – as well as in video games.

The package does not have a set launch date, although you can pre-order here.
