Okay, quick recap: everyone is trying to do food delivery. In no particular order, you’ve got ZeroCater delivering to office parks, Plated delivering ingredients/recipes, GrubHub delivering from restaurants, and Relay Foods operating online farmer’s markets.
Goldbely, for its part, wants to focus on regional classics: ‘noms like pastrami sandwiches from Katz’s Deli in NYC, deep dish pizza from Lou Malnati’s Pizza in Chicago, tamales from Texas Tamale Company, and pecan pies from Pioneer Pies in Oklahoma. Kinda sounds great to me — I’ve been pining for a half smoke from Ben’s Chili Bowl in D.C.. And Goldbely also has a bit of clout coming out of Y Combinator, the most powerful (some say the only powerful) startup accelerator in the Valley…but I’m still skeptical.
Anybody ordered from Goldbely? Good experience? Bad experience? Wouldn’t a Chicago deep dish pizza lose it’s magic after a few days in the mail? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
